Before you begin test close every applications running in your device such as Pandora, Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, all browser windows and tabs (except the one you're using for the test) and any other programs that stream video and music.
USpeed.io is a modern DSL speed test to analyze your broadband internet access. If you find that your internet connection is too slow or you are just curious how fast it really is - USpeed.io is a perfect tool for a fast speed check - worldwide.
USpeed.io measures your current internet speed to the server closest to you.
The speed test from USpeed.io tells you just how fast your connection is, measures the strength and speed of your internet connection in your professional and private life.
How does the speed test work?
The speed test gives you the tools you need to run the test entirely in your browser. Simply ensure that your computer or mobile phone / tablet is connected to the internet either directly via a router with a network cable or via a WiFi network and press the start button on the USpeed.io website. The test program then establishes a link with three nearby servers and measures the speed of your broadband / fibre / wireless connection.
What do the test results mean?
Test takes about 20-30 seconds, and evaluate the speed of your download (download), send (upload) and response (ping).
Download speed - what speed are data from the testing server downloaded by. Download speed is measured in megabits per second (Mbps). The higher result the better.
Upload speed - is how fast you send data from you to others. Uploading is necessary for sending big files, or in using video-chat to talk to someone else online. Upload speed is measured in megabits per second (Mbps). The higher result the better.
Ping - is the amount of time it takes for the water that enters the pipe at one end to exit at the other. A fast ping means a more responsive connection, especially in applications where timing is everything (for example video games). Ping is measured in milliseconds (ms). The lower result the better.
Jitter - if you know what delay is, jitter is simply the difference in packet delay. In other words, jitter is measuring time difference in packet inter-arrival time. Jitter is measured in milliseconds (ms). The lower result the better.
Your maximum possible data transmission speed depends on whether you have a broadband, fibre, WiFi or another connection, as well as your pricing plan and service provider.
